PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Culture, Phoeurng Sackona, has expressed her hope that the Vietnamese Culture Week event held in Cambodia this week will provide an opportunity for the people of Cambodia and Vietnam to get to know one another other in the name of friendship.

She said this during the opening ceremony of the "Vietnamese Culture Week in Cambodia 2022" on Wednesday, 10 August at the Chaktomuk Theater.

The Minister said that the current event can be considered as a new page in Cambodia-Vietnam relations, where the two countries have jointly organized a free and happy cultural week to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, after the celebration was previously postponed due to the pandemic.

She added that she believes that this meaningful cultural event provides an opportunity for the people of the two countries to get to know one another and contribute to bringing about closer ties, cooperation, friendship and brotherhood between the people of Cambodia and Vietnam, while both countries continue to recover from the pandemic. The relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam is now regarded as a comprehensive partnership, which is evident in the exchange of high-level delegations, professional officials and art groups of the two countries.
